EWARS Weekly Bulletin

Highlights
Among the reported diseases, SARI is the leading cause of morbidity in Week 1 with 670 (probable/suspect/confirm) reported cases.
Overall reporting rate of Week 1 is 97.0% with 130 out of 134 sentinel sites reporting to EWARS.
Week Summary

This bulletin includes data since January 2022 till date, including comparison of the same period last two year. In May 2019, 36 new sentinel sites (including public hospitals, private hospitals, and medical colleges) were added and was gradually oriented and started reporting. Recently, in November 2024, 17 reporting sites selected from all the provices of Nepal were upgraded to sentinel sites, thus the number of sentinel sites are increasing. The current number of sentinel sites is 134.

Summary Observation
Most of the AGE cases were reported from KATHMANDU (22 cases), BHAKTAPUR (20 cases), RUPANDEHI (15 cases), PARSA (15 cases) and RUKUM EAST (12 cases).
Most of the SARI cases were reported from KATHMANDU (66 cases), RUPANDEHI (48 cases), SUNSARI (48 cases), MORANG (37 cases) and KAILALI (28 cases).
Most of the Cholera cases were reported from BHAKTAPUR (16 cases), PARBAT (10 cases), ACHHAM (4 cases), KASKI (3 cases) and BHOJPUR (3 cases).
Malaria case(s) were reported from TANAHU (1 case) and KASKI (1 case).
Most of the Dengue cases were reported from JHAPA (23 cases), KASKI (14 cases), KATHMANDU (12 cases), KANCHANPUR (5 cases) and BHAKTAPUR (4 cases).
Kala azar case(s) were reported from ARGHAKHANCHI (1 case) and MORANG (1 case).
Most of the Scrub Typhus cases were reported from DADELDHURA (11 cases), BARDIYA (8 cases), DANG (7 cases), KHOTANG (6 cases) and LAMJUNG (5 cases).
Most of the Enteric Fever cases were reported from DADELDHURA (9 cases), PARSA (6 cases), MAHOTTARI (6 cases), SUNSARI (5 cases) and OKHALDHUNGA (3 cases).
Most of the Influenza Like Illness cases were reported from KAILALI (127 cases), BAITADI (51 cases), ACHHAM (35 cases), KANCHANPUR (23 cases) and SINDHUPALCHOK (22 cases).
